How to approach?

By car:

The National Botanical Garden can be approached by road from Budapest via the M3 motorway – Fót – Csomád – Őrbottyán – Vácrátót route, from the direction of Gödöllő via the Szada – Veresegyház – Őrbottyán – Vácrátót route, while from the direction of Vác either via the road leading to Vácrátót or via the M2 (2/A) motorway taking the exit towards Vácrátót – Gödöllő. Vácrátót lies in a distance of 35 km from the city centre of Budapest, while the distance is 11 km from Vác, and 15 km from Gödöllő.

In the vicinity of the National Botanical Garden the number of parking places are limited, and parking is subject to fees at certain parts of the village. Detailed information about the locations, pay periods and charges can be found on the website of the Municipal Government of Vácrátót who runs the parking places: https://vacratot.hu/fizetos-parkolo/.

A two-stall recharge station for electric cars is in operation on Petőfi square, near the Monument of War Victims.

By public transport:

There are scheduled bus services via the Vác–Gödöllő, Vác–Fót and Vác–Galgamácsa routes, as well as from Újpest Központ by the M3 Metro line in Budapest via the Őrbottyán–Vácrátót–Vácduka–Vác route. Buses stop at the bus stop in front of the main entrance of the botanical garden.

By train, the botanical garden can be approached either via the Budapest Nyugati railway station –Vácrátót – Vác or the Budapest Nyugati railway station – Szob route travelling to Vác and changing there for Vácrátót. We draw your attention that there is no bus connection to each train at the Vácrátót station (located in the outskirts), to take you to the village (3 km). You are suggested to walk from the station to the main road and take the No. 346 Vác – Gödöllő services of Volánbusz between the „Vácrátót station entrance road” and „Botanical garden” bus stops.

It is recommended to get informed in advance about the schedules of the bus company Volánbusz and the State Railway Company MÁV at their website.
